Charles “Chuck or Chucky” Edward Yates, 76, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2025, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
Chuck was born on August 18, 1949, in New Bern, NC, to the late Harold and Jane Yates. He grew up in Beaufort and New Bern and spent some of his youth in Louisiana when his dad worked in the Menhaden Fishery. For decades, he was a master boat painter for Hatteras Yachts.
Chuck enjoyed cars and had the privilege of driving several classics throughout his lifetime, including his last car, a Pontiac Solstice Convertible. Chuck enjoyed good music, fishing, hunting, walking on the beach and, most of all, he loved his family.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Harold “Ed” Yates (Heather) of Carteret County, NC; brother, Robert “Bob” Yates (Sybil) of Arapahoe, NC; grandchildren, Cole Yates (Carson), Lilian Work (Gage), Taylor Yates (fiancée, CJ), and Savannah Yates; and four great-grandchildren, Fallon Yates, Ashton Work, Grant Work, and Vivian Work; niece, Dee Y. Lupton; nephew, Sean Yates; and special friends Tracy and JB Baxter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family thanks all the staff of Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast for the care provided to Chuck these past several months.
