Dr. Gary Robert Carroll, born on October 24, 1958, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 12, 2025.
Gary’s Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, hosted by Local Point Church at Newport Baptist Church in Newport, NC. The service will be led by Pastor JT Riley, Pastor Norm Waligora, and Pastor Chris Youngblood.
Gary was a Godly man, who gave his daughters the example of what good husband material looked like. Always full of jokes and random knowledge, he was known for his kindness, testimony, love for music and especially his love for the Lord.
Known to his former students as "Mr. Pastor Doctor Carroll" or "Shiny Head", he always had a sense of humor in everything he did. A lover of Diet Coke and Chicken N Dumplings, he would say his spiritual gifts were preaching, napping, and eating. He spent some time serving his country in the Army Reserve, but most of his life was spent faithfully serving the Lord and the Lord’s church with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Tammy; four daughters, Samantha Carroll of Havelock, NC, Mandy Bowman (Robert) of Wilmington, NC, Grace McKee (Donald) of Morehead City, NC, and Lindy Heffner (Sloan) of Morehead City, NC; sister, Jackie Carroll; brother, Greg Carroll (Lynn); multiple nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and multiple grand pets.
Gary was preceded by his parents, Jake and Doris Carroll.
The Carroll family is very thankful to the staff at Carteret Health Care and Crystal Bluffs for taking such good care of Gary.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the "Feed the Carroll Cats Fund". JUST KIDDING! Please send memorial donations to Operation Christmas Child.
