James Marc Hamric, 52, of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

A memorial service to honor Marc's life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 16th at Parkview Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. John Carswell. The family will receive friends the evening prior from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, September 15th at Parkview Baptist Church. His family also invites friends and loved ones to gather at the Taylor residence, located at 1506 Audubon Lane in Morehead City. For those unable to attend his memorial service, it can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home's website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days. In honoring Marc's laid-back spirit, the family encourages attendees to dress casually, and even wear Crocs, which is what Marc wore daily.

Marc was born on November 11, 1972, in Greensboro, NC, to James Fredric Hamric and Sandra Ball Hamric. After completing high school, he pursued his passion for the environment and graduated from the Fish and Wildlife Program at Wayne Community College in 1992.

Soon to be retiring, his dedication with the NC Marine Fisheries was seen throughout his 28 years as a Marine Fisheries Technician 2 in Morehead City where he was the 2024 recipient of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Distinguished Employee Award. Alongside his primary career, he was also a familiar and beloved presence at Atlantic Beach Seafood, where he worked part-time for 27 years.

Marc was the most kind, gentle, caring, and agreeable person. He did so many incredible acts of kindness with pure joy and humility in his heart. Marc taught so many people the love of fishing, hunting, family and the power of helping others.

Alaska held a special place in Marc's heart as his favorite fishing destination, where he enjoyed catching Salmon and Halibut. His greatest happiness came not from catching fish himself, but from guiding others to their big catches and sharing in their joy. Beyond his passion for fishing, Marc enjoyed hunting, gardening, shooting pool, and spending fun times with his grandchildren, Merritt and Griffin. He was especially known for his delicious Low Country Boils, always welcoming family and friends to gather around his table.

Marc was a devoted member of Parkview Baptist Church. Since joining the church two years ago, he actively served as an usher and participated in church security. Additionally, Marc was a member of the Mayo Hunting Club in Person County, where he spent many enjoyable days deer hunting.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Tina Grinstead Hamric; parents, Fred and Sandy Hamric; daughter, Carson Taylor (John); sister, Heather Witte (Scott); sisters-in-Law, Jennifer Phillips (Chris) and Gail Sexton (Steve); grandchildren, Merritt Taylor and Griffin Taylor; aunts and uncles, Sheila and Ray Wilson and Sherry Ream; nephews, Luke Witte, Ethan Phillips (Dakota), Preston Phillips (Grace), Grant Phillips and Matthew Sexton; and nieces, Katie Witte and Hannah Gray Sexton.

Marc was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Neil and Alice Ball; paternal grandparents, JM and Pearl Hamric; and nephew, Elliott Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Marc's grandchildren to A Sea of Learning Private School (non-profit) 4723 Country Club Rd., Morehead City, NC 28557.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
