It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles (Karche) Zsebedics on December 13, 2024, at the age of 88. Charles was born on July 12, 1936, in Gyor Hungary, to Louis and Irma(Nee Zsebedits) Zsebedics. Charles immigrated to the United States in 1956 and became a US citizen in 1992. Charles was a superintendent for the Barclay Plaza in Forest Hills, New York until his retirement. In his spare time Charles ran a successful contracting company called Charlesons Contracting. There are many beautiful kitchens designed by Charles. In retirement, Charles enjoyed building birdhouses that still hang at houses today. A true wood artisan, Charles had the ability to turn a piece of wood into something beautiful.
Charles was married to Jadwiga and lived in Ridgewood, New York with her son Peter. Charles truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. His generosity and love knew no bounds. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Hisradiant smile lit up any room he entered.
Charles is survived by his wife Jadwiga and stepson Peter, his children Charles (Lisa) Zsebedics, Paul (Ellen) Zsebedics, Maryann (Kenneth) Connaughton and grandchildren, Bryan (Chelsea) Connaughton, Ryan (Katie) Zsebedics, Kaitlyn Connaughton, Alexa Zsebedics, Brenna (Brett) Lenahan, Brandon (Krystyn) Connaughton, Andrew (Rani) Zsebedics, Tyler Zsebedics, Danny Zsebedics, Evan Zsebedics, Ava Zsebedics and great grandchildren Logan Connaughton, James Connaughton and Liam Lenahan. Charles also had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends in the United States and Hungary who mourn his passing.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Our Lady Of The Miraculous Medal R.C. Church, 62-81 60th Place, Ridgewood, New York United States
Charle's final resting place will be at St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the NYC Bird Alliance, (https://www.nycbirdalliance.org) a cause Charles felt strongly about advocating on behalf of the conservation of New York's wild bird communities.
