Szilver (Nick) Nicholas Zsebedics was born June 2, 1936 in Gyorsentivan, Hungary. He peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miklos and Margaret (Kiraly) Zsebedics and also by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann (Bosway) Zsebedics. He is survived by their 4 children: Michell Michael (John), Cindy Mizsak (Steve), Nick Zsebedics (Mary), and Stephanie Zsebedics; 6 grandchildren: Brad Mizsak, Amanda O'Keeffe (David), Lindsey Zsebedics (Matt Perko), Katie Wilks (Adam), Lexie Veon, and Emellia Veon. He also leaves behind 2 great grandchildren: Hailey O'Keeffe and Szilver Perko.
Nick attended a Catholic Seminary High School in Gyor, Hungary. His parents hoped he would become a priest, but that was not in God's plan. He later served as a merchant marine which took him on many adventures. After the Hungarian Revolution in October-November 1956, Nick had to escape with the other freedom fighters. By the grace of God, he made it to the United States and ended up in Cleveland, Ohio where he would eventually meet Mary Ann at a Hungarian picnic.
Sometime after Nick and Mary Ann were married, Nick was hired by Swagelok, a Crawford Fitting Company, where he would work for 42 years. He remained friends with many of his coworkers all the years afterward. Nick dedicated his life to his family, making sure they had a good home, food on the table, but most importantly, a good Catholic education. He was always willing to help when needed, whether it was at the school, the church, or in the neighborhood – the extended family of Valley Road.
Nick enjoyed the outdoors, being in the sun and seeing the sunrise. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family, but especially with Mary Ann in their retirement years. He would take the family to swimming parks where their would be swimming, diving, cookouts and soccer games. Even as he got older, he could show some younger guys a move or two on the soccer field.
Since Nick was an only child, he greatly appreciated how he was welcomed into the Bosway family. He cherished having brothers-in-law Steve (Patricia) and Don (Eileen) Bosway and all of their children, as well as many cousins and other relatives. He was actually kind of shy in crowds, but he loved the parties with family and friends. There was always lots of laughter, good drink and food, maybe singing, hayrides, and a softball game.
Nick and his family have been members of St. Helen Catholic Church since they moved to Auburn, Ohio in 1971. Instead of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in his honor, please make it to:
