Charley J. Phipps, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted husband, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2025, in West Milton, Ohio, at the age of 83. He was born on August 31, 1941, in Beckley, West Virginia, to George and Mamie Phipps. Charley was a man known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his ability to bring joy through humor and kindness.

Throughout his life, Charley exemplified what it meant to be dedicated and hardworking. He was a faithful and loving provider for his family, always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. His daughters—Leona Robinette, Sherry (John) Lewis, Evelyn (James) Ashley, and Christie Brown—were the light of his life, and he felt an immense sense of fulfillment whenever they turned to him for advice or support. Charley took great pride in caring for his family, nurturing their dreams and aspirations even as they grew and began families of their own.

An affectionate jokester, Charley had a delightful penchant for teasing. His playful spirit brought laughter to those around him, making him a cherished presence within his community and among his loved ones. Charley had a particularly affectionate relationship with nature, particularly the squirrels he lovingly referred to as his "babies." He enjoyed feeding them, even as they mischievously consumed his garden peppers.

A committed Christian, Charley attended Redemption Christian Tabernacle, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He was also a lover of bluegrass music, often immersing himself in the soulful sounds of the genre that resonated so deeply with him. His interests and hobbies reflected his zest for life, and he embraced every moment spent with family and friends.Charley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie Phipps, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He is also reunited in spirit with his parents, George and Mamie Phipps, and numerous brothers and sisters who have also passed.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his surviving family, including his daughters Leona Robinette, Sherry (John) Lewis, Evelyn (James) Ashley, and Christie Brown; his grandchildren Amanda, Ted III, Derrick, Logan, Ryan, Sarah, James, Jeremy, and Kaylah; and his great-grandchildren Nic, Piper, Kara, Leo, Nora, Mya, Molly, Ellery, Lane, Nellie, Vernon, Sophia, and Jayci. Each of them carries a piece of Charley's spirit within their hearts. He is also survived by his beloved little dog, Timmy-who will be well taken care of in Charley’s absence.

A visitation will be held in his honor on March 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio, 45424. Charley will be laid to rest with his wife, Margie at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Charley J. Phipps will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, his hard work, and his deep commitment to his family. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love and laughter.
