In Loving Memory of Charley Mae Plummer
Charley Mae Plummer, 83, of Las Vegas, peacefully passed away on December 18, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born in Hephzibah, GA, Charley made Las Vegas her home in 1984, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, resilience, and love.
For 30 years, Charley served with unwavering commitment as a secretary at Nellis Air Force Base, contributing her talents to the service of her country. Her dedication extended beyond retirement, as she became a cherished bus aide at Clark County Public Schools for five more years, touching the lives of countless students with her warmth and kindness.
A beacon of strength, Charley triumphed over breast cancer, celebrating 20 years as a survivor. Her experience fueled her passion for giving back, and she generously volunteered for the Winner's Project of Las Vegas, a cancer survivors outreach and education program. Additionally, Charley dedicated her time to the AARP, the Dolittle Community Center, the MLK Community Center, and the Pearson Community Center, embodying the spirit of community service.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Charley found joy in travel, often exploring new horizons with cherished friends and family. A lover of chance, she enjoyed the thrill of bingo, creating lasting memories and laughter along the way. Among her greatest companions was her beloved dog, Bentley, who brought her immeasurable joy and companionship. She also loved to watch sports.
Charley was the last surviving member of her siblings, preceded in death by her three sisters, Evelyn Rouse, Adell Johnson, and Mattie Black, and her two brothers, Milton Evans and Willie James Evans. Though she is no longer with us, Charley's memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammi and Robert Thomas of Las Vegas; granddaughter, Jasmine Washington of Las Vegas; two great-granddaughters, Amaya Banks and Cassiah Banks, who brought immense joy to her life, and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
