Funeral service for former Lawton resident, Charley J. Wilson, 80, of Missouri City, TX will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Rev. David Kent officiating.
Mr. Wilson passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side after a 30 year battle with Parkinson.
Burial will follow at Letitia Cemetery.
Special viewing and visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
Charley was born December 2, 1944 in Lawton, OK to Forrest Leon Wilson and Ida Irene (Sweeten) Wilson. He grew up and graduated from Lawton High School in 1963. After school he joined the 95th Infantry of the United States Army Reserve and served for eight years earning various awards. He attended Cameron University among others. He worked for Sears and Roebuck Company until 1983 during which time he was relocated to many cities and states. He also worked for City Market and The Building Center in Rock Springs, Wyo. Charley was a very talented builder and contractor including building his own homes in Green River, Wyo and in Missouri City, Tx.
Charley married Judy Zumwalt on February 14, 1964 celebrating their 61st anniversary February 14, 2025. They were blessed with two children. Mr. Wilson was a faithful servant of the Lord, serving as deacon for nine years at Tomball Assembly of God, and a member of Fellowship of Praise in Stafford, Tx for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting in Colorado and Wyoming with friends and family.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his son, John Edward Wilson and wife, Susan; his daughter, Jodi Beth (Wilson) Thistlethwaite and husband, Richard; his grandson, Blake Guidry Thistlethwaite; his brother, Edward Wilson and wife, Nancy Jane; and many other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
