Charlie Pleasant Doss

Charlie Pleasant Gwynn, 79, of Caswell County went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March, 23, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Reidlawn Cemetery with Pastor Gary Loftis and Pastor James Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Charlie was born in Caswell County to the late John Rice "Scott" Gwynn & Lucy Evelyn Soyars Gwynn. He retired from Proctor & Gamble and was a seasonal worker at Northeast Park in Guilford County for several years. He was a plain and simple man. Material things were not important to him. “Dress casual or come as you are” because he was not fancy. Nothing pleased him more than to get on the floor and play with his great-grandson Ronan.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his son-in-law Kelly Sumner; and brother-in-law Dennis Doss.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Gwynn of the home; daughters Sharon Gwynn of Greensboro, NC, Susan Sumner of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Bernard Posey and wife Holly, Rebekah Whitley and husband Mike, and Jacob Sumner; great-grandsons, Brayden and Ronan; brother-in-laws, Robert Doss and wife Barbara, Roger Doss & wife Penny, sister-in-law, Louise Doss; a host of nieces, nephews and a county full of cousins.
