Charlie (Cole) Hix, 66, passed away on February 10, 2025, in his home in Apache. Born on April 28, 1958, Cole was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who lived a life full of love, kindness, and adventure. He was known for his compassionate heart, unwavering friendship, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it was through a warm smile, a kind word, or a selfless act, Cole touched the lives of many. He shared his life with those he loved most, including his loyal corgi, Russell, who was always by his side.
Cole's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving and dedicated father to Kayla Carattini and Jesse Hix and wife Chab, a proud grandfather to Keegan Carattini, Cheyenne Shaw, Maci Hix, and Lane Hix. His love for them was boundless, and he never missed an opportunity to show how much they meant to him. Whether he was sharing stories, teaching life lessons, or simply enjoying time together, Cole made sure his family always knew they were cherished.
Cole was a hardworking man who dedicated much of his life to serving his community. His father, Charlie Hix, built the Apache Sale Barn, a place that would become an important part of Cole's life. He worked there for many years forming connections with local ranchers and cattlemen while carrying on his father's legacy. He later spent most of his career at the Apache Farmers Co-op, where he built lifelong friendships and took pride in helping local farmers and ranchers. After working there for 22 years he retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and loyalty to the people he served.
An avid outdoorsman, Cole had a deep passion for camping, hunting, and fishing. He found peace in nature and took every chance he could to enjoy the great outdoors. These weren't just hobbies-they were a way of life that he passed down to his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He was also a devoted fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, proudly cheering them on every season.
A man of strong faith, Cole was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Apache. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him to always show kindness, generosity, and love to those around him. He believed in the power of community and lived his life as an example of selflessness and grace.
Cole was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Hix and Anna Mae (Mansel) Hix, and his siblings, Charlotte Rust, Kathy Bartley, and Jack Hix. Though he is no longer with us, his love, wisdom, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, at 1:00 PM at the Apache First Baptist Church, with a graveside service to follow with Pastor Jon Syverson officiating. Honoring Cole as pallbearers will be Mike Melton, Sherman Austin, Paul McWilliams, Dennis Crow, Kevin McCray, and Kent Arndt. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.
Charlie (Cole) Hix leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but the impact he made on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten.
