Charles Bernard "Charlie" Nichols, 85, died at Haven Hospice Robert's Care Center in Palatka Sunday morning, October 27, 2024 after an extended illness.
Charlie was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia and came to live in the Crescent City area in 1976. He was a route driver and mail truck driver in Virginia. He owned and operated a route truck in Crescent City handling fern and other decorative greenery. He also worked as an assistant manager for Putnam Feed and Seed and Security Feed and Seed. He was a member of Word of Faith Bible Church and enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and watching NASCAR racing. He was also enjoyed his CB radio and was a HAM radio operator. He went by the handle "Mailman".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Willie Louise Nichols and his sister, Dorothy Curry.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of 65 years; his son, Charles B. "Chuck" Nichols, Jr. and his daughter, Paula Marrs (Mike Boren) all of Crescent City, Florida; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will be Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, November 1, 2024 at Word of Faith Bible Church with Pastor Richie Thomas officiating. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Eden Cemetery.
Floral tributes are accepted and those who wish may make donations in his memory to Word of Faith Bible Church, 107 McClain Boulevard, Crescent City, Florida 32112.
Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Crescent City.
