Charlie Lawrence Reese, 85, Grovetown, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on August 23, 2024.
He was born in Gibson, Georgia on March 24, 1939, lived for many years in Thomson, Georgia before moving to Grovetown, Georgia. Charlie was a dedicated U. S. National Guard Reservist and was an accomplished tank operator. He worked for many years at Thomson Company. He also worked at Augusta Sportswear and Bob Richards Chevrolet as a security guard. Charlie enjoyed roller skating and served as a floor guard at Silver Wing Skating rink in Thomson for several years. He also enjoyed wrestling, fishing at the State Ponds and Clarks Hill Lake, watching Georgia Bulldogs football, working puzzles, Neal's BBQ and spending time with friends and family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, William Vinson (W.V.) Reese and Celia Mae Lamb. His survivors include his daughter, Kathy Reese of Thomson, Georgia; his sons, Keith Reese (Recy) of Grovetown, Georgia and Kenan Reese (Julie) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his brother, Billy Reese (Jennifer) of Vero Beach, Florida; his sister, Betty Graves (Ralph) of St. Pete Beach, Florida and his grandchildren, Samantha Madariaga (Rico), Ivie Reese, Lillian Reese and Vanessa Reese. In addition, to his nieces, nephews, cousins, he will also be missed by his close friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to thank the 4th and 5th floor nurses at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta and Georgia Hospice for their care, as well as the staff and owners of Nancy Hall Personal Care and True Destiny Personal Care homes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia. His funeral service, being officiated by Pastor Joe Woods, will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, Georgia.
