Charlie known as "Joe" was born in Chowan County on August 5, 1955 to the late Charlie W. Roberts and Rubydell Welch Roberts.
Charlie graduated from Chowan High School in 1975. He joined Warren Grove Baptist Church at a early age. During his youth he served as an usher. He remained a faithful member until his illness.
Charlie was formerly employed at Olam Edible Nuts "Seabrooks" of Edenton, NC. He was a forklift driver for forty-seven and half years. Charlie recently retired and received numerous awards including employee of the month. He was a Big Dallas Cowboys Fan!! Charlie was a very giving person and loved to crack jokes.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Kenneth Roberts, Ruben Roberts (Kay) both of Edenton, NC; one sister, Naomi Roberts (Joe Wrighton who was like a brother to Charlie) of Edenton, NC; three special cousins who were like sisters, Jean Simpson (Thomas), Evelyn Gainey (Michael) and Joyce White (William); two nieces, Krystal Allen (Davon) of Clayton, NC, Ashley Roberts (Daquaun Tatum) of Burlington, NC; two great nieces; Karri Allen, Lauryn Tatum; one great nephew, Kai Allen; a host of cousins, friends, family and coworkers.
