Anniston , Alabama - Dr. Charlie G. Williams, Jr., 70, of Anniston, passed away December 11, 2022.
Dr. Williams was a dedicated physician who tirelessly served his profession for over 40 years.
Dr. Williams is preceded by his father, Charlie G. Williams, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ellen Williams; mother, Edna Williams; two daughters, Mary Beth Pawlowicz (Kevin) and Mary Catherine Smith (Justin); grandchildren, Connor, Olivia, and Cole Pawlowicz; a brother, Frank Williams (Kim); a niece, Ashley Allen and her children, Fisher and June; and a nephew, Ryan Williams (Meredith) and their son, Oliver.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1301 Golden Springs Road, Anniston, AL 36207; 4Legs4Justice, PO Box 848, Anniston, AL 36202 (4legs4justice.org); or to the Anniston Police Department.
Per Dr. Williams' request, there will be no formal or public services.

I met Charlie when he was working in Montgomery as an ER doctor. He was also a customer of mine when I was working as an exterminator. A great guy to be around and I considered him a friend. So sorry to have heard of his passing. May God comfort his family.

So sad to hear the news of Dr. Charlie, he provided his boat to bury the ashes when my husband died nine years ago. I´ll never forget his kindness and think of him often my prayers to his family

Charlie was in the ER while I was a resident at NEARMC. He was such a great teacher, mentor, and friend to the residents. Many times in my 33 years of practice I have thought of and used things that Charlie taught me. A loss to the medical community.

Met Charlie while we were working RMC´s ER in Anniston. By low, sell high was one of the things I remember he used to say a lot. To that I would add "quit while you´re ahead". Always a professional and good man.

Charlie was our neighbor in Islamorada and he was a wonderful friend to our family. My husband, Capt. John, went over to visit as soon as he arrived. They both loved to fish. We used his house for overflow company and he spotted the cancer on my husband eye. He never missed an opportunity to help and be kind. May God bless and keep him! He is in heaven and will continue to watch over his family!

Charlie was a big part of my career as a nurse and nurse practitioner. He was an awesome physician who served his patients and the community of Anniston well! He will be greatly missed! To Mary Ellen and family- may God give you peace and comfort that only he can give during this time. My prayers are with you!

Dr. Williams was near and dear to my heart. He was like family to me. When you work so closely with people for so long they become special and the memories are precious whether they are good or bad. We have been blessed to have had him. I thank his family for their generosity for sharing him with the community. He is our hero and set the standards high. I am forever grateful for the many years I´ve spent working alongside Dr. Williams in the ER´s. Things will never be the same. We will never be able to count the lives he has touched and changed in his 40 years of service. I will miss his hugs and encouragement when I goofed up on a quiz. It´s not goodbye but see ya later big guy.

I had the privilege of serving as CEO of Stringfellow Memorial Hospital from 2000-2003. Dr. Williams was such a strong and committed supporter of the hospital and he helped me in so many ways. Not only was he an excellent physician and a trusted colleague, but a good friend as well. My condolences to Mary Ellen and the family, he touched so many lives and will be missed!

I always referred to Dr. Charlie as "Doc Hollywood." He was a really nice guy who made you feel at ease in whatever emergency you found yourself in. He treated both of my children and myself in the ER at various times. His calming spirit will be missed and long remembers. God bless his family. Thanks Doc.

Dr. Charlie was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. He thought beyond the moment when caring for his patients and I will be forever thankful for that. He saved a scared 25 year old young lady from having a very noticeable scar for the rest of her life. It was the little things like that as well as the big things that made him such a special Doctor. RIP Charlie!

I truly loved Dr. Charlie. I worked in the er, environmental tech, everything he saw me, I got a hug& he would ask me how things were going. I told him the last time I saw him that he was a sweet man. He smiled & said, I can be. He really was one of kind & im going to miss him. RIP The loss is Heavens gain.

Charlie was a friend of only 5 years, but in that time he was a wonder, always on his big yellow machines, knocking down trees or digging up things. He was an extremely intelligent man who always enjoyed an intellectual conversation. He loved our fresh grown little yellow tomato's and was alway happy to get a cup full. He would even stop by the garden now and then to grab a hand full. He was the best neighbor we have ever had. I wish we had the chance to say goodbye. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. We love you Mary Ellen and are here if you need anything.

My name is Bruce Lovell and I'm so sorry that Dr Charlie Williams died I was his first patient when he built his place down on quintard across the mall he was so nice and so caring and he worked 24 hours a day it work at the emergency room and then come down to his office he was only doctor there for a long time and I miss him so much he is a great person thank you for the time that I spent with you
