Charllot Susan Perry slipped quietly into paradise on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born to Leo and Lela Wheelock. She was the third of 6 children and raised in Saranac, MI. She was the salutatorian of her high school class. She married Marvin Kimball in 1958 and had two daughters, Ruth and Elaine. She worked for years at Newell Manufacturing Company in Lowell as a press operator and she retired at the age of 65.
After retirement, she settled in Ionia, MI and stayed very involved in her community. She tutored adults in reading. She worked in classrooms as a foster grandmother. She was involved in the lives of her grandchildren and extended family.
She developed her artistic talents in classes in her community; painting mainly in acrylic and watercolor. She was a member of Mid-Michigan Word Gathers of Ionia County and spent many hours with them at Sozo's enjoying coffee, snacks and writing. She enjoyed encouraging others in the group. She loved to crochet and could do a mean granny square. There were many graduation Afghans customized for nieces, nephews and grandchildren over the years. The thread that tied it all together was her deep and abiding Christian faith. She cherished the Free Methodist Church of her childhood and was embraced in her later years by First United Methodist Church in Ionia and Ginter Park United Methodist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
She is survived by her sisters, Harriet Davenport and Anna Niemela; brother-in-law, Arnold Kimball; brother, David Wheelock (Jan); sister-in-law, Evelyn Wheelock; daughters, Ruth Plott (George) and Elaine Dollarhite, 7 grandchildren, a posse of great grandchildren, and a bounty of nieces and nephews and their families.
She will be missed and remembered with much love.
Charllot was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kimball, sons-in-law, Alan Walton and Stephen Dollarhite, brother-in-law, Lewis Niemela, sister-in-law, Julie Wheelock, sister, Dorothy Kimball and her brother, Daniel Wheelock.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Saranac Free Methodist Church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral, (1PM-2PM). A Reception will follow services at the Saranac Community Church. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Saranac.
