Charlotte Marie Collins was born on July 13, 1955, at Alexandria Hospital in the Fairfax County, Virginia to the late Charles Slaughter and Dorise B. Clay. Charlotte entered eternal peace on May 15, 2023 at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Charlotte was affectionately called by some as "Nana", "Nanapie", "glam-ma" and "Carlette". Charlotte grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and attended Mount Vernon High School until 1973. She graduated (Adult GED program) from Woodson High school in Fairfax, Virginia in 1987. She attended the Northern Virginia Community College for two years and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development.
Charlotte married George Webb (1978 to 1985) and to this union was born Tamar, Theresea and Tiffany.
In October 2003, Charlotte and Rudolph Collins were joined in Holy Matrimony where they were married for almost 20 years.
In her adult years Charlotte worked at Saunders B. Moon Community Action Head Start Program in Alexandria, Virginia, Northern Virginia Training Center, Kmart, Giant Foods and years as a childcare and daycare provider all in Fairfax, Virginia.
Charlotte accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was a devoted Christian since her younger years and was baptized at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Virginia now known as Woodlawn-Faith United Methodist Church. She also joined the Carter Gospel Singers choir during her church years at United Methodist Church and truly enjoyed being a part of the usher group. She loved to talk and would minister the word of god to whomever would listen wherever she was. Once she moved away from the Northern Virginia area with her husband Rudolph Collins, Charlotte became a member of the church Abundant life Assembly of God in Stafford, Virginia
Charlotte raised her five children, as a single parent for most of their lives and did a wonderful job being a Super mother and father figure to her kids. She also raised her nephew Lorenzo Sherman for a few years when he was young and raised her niece Lori Sherman until she became a young woman.
Charlotte was generous in her life and compassionate about her faith. She was also known as an excellent cook throughout the family as folks always looked forward to her cooking at family gatherings, fundraisers, holiday seasons, etc. Some of her favorite dishes were macaroni and cheese, potato salad, fried fish, fried chicken, etc. Charlotte was everyone's caretaker when needed without hesitation and everyone's protector when she felt the need. If she had it to give, she would help anyway she can.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father Charles Slaughter, mother Dorise B. Clay, brothers Keith Carter, Robert ("Bobby") Slaughter and sister Bonita Greene; She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, five children, son, Jerome Slaughter, daughter, Chiquita Slaughter affectionately known as Kita; daughter, Tamar Webb affectionately known as "Ham"; daughter, Theresea Lea; daughter, Tiffany Webb, and raised her niece Lori Sherman; sisters Sheila Owens (Harold), Sandra Floode and Pamela Moaland-Williams; brothers Ronald Slaughter, Charles Slaughter (Helen), Jonathan Clay and Jason Clay. She also has 13 grandchildren; Shaquella Slaughter, Daquan Badie, Tariq Badie, Tajanae Badie, Lijah Webb, Serenity Gray, Travis Webb, Clayton Lea Jr ("CJ"), Carter Lea, Jasiah Hendley, Michiah Hendley, Jeremiah Hendley, Zechariah Hendley, two great-grandchildren; Ezra Clifford and Zhavia Clifford, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
