Charlotte Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2025.
Dr. Charlotte Davis passed away May 1, 2025, in Fairfield County, Ohio, at the age of 70, following an eleven-year journey with multiple myeloma.

Born July 8,1954, Charlotte was the eldest of three daughters of John E. Davis and Bobby Clay Davis.

Charlotte graduated from Cartersville High School in 1972 and went on to attend Auburn University. There, she distinguished herself as both a scholar and student leader. After earning her undergraduate degree in 1976, she joined the university staff while pursuing her master's degree. Her passion for education and student development led her to Ohio State University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.

Her career in higher education was marked by dedication and achievement. Charlotte held leadership roles at Virginia Tech and Troy State University, where she became Vice President at just 39 years old. She later served as Vice President at Shorter College in Georgia-a role that brought her closer to home and family. Throughout her career, she remained deeply committed to enriching student life through involvement with student government and Greek life.

A lifelong musician, Charlotte played in both the Cartersville High School and Auburn University marching bands. Her love for music continued throughout her life as she remained active with Auburn's alumni band until her illness prevented participation. She was also a devoted member of Delta Zeta sorority and served as Parliamentarian for its national office.

Charlotte is remembered with love by her spouse and partner of 17 years, Dr. Anna Marie Kosa; sisters Susan Hoskins and Lisa Siniard; nieces Emily Hoskins Daybeck and Lydia Siniard Foster; nephews Davis Siniard, Graham Hoskins, and Steven Hoskins; along with many cherished friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and dedication.

A memorial service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia, 2:30pm, June 8, 2025.

Charlotte and I were roommates at Auburn University during my senior year, in addition to being Delta Zeta sisters. I lost touch with her after she moved to Troy State University, and I moved to Maryland. I am so sorry to have read about her passing in the Auburn Alumnae Magazine. She was so full of energy and enthusiasm for life and could accomplish more in one day than most people could in a month. Peoples' lives were blessed by her presence. She will be sorely missed.

I knew Charlotte only as an adult. She was a true Southern woman raised by her Mom, Bobby and Dad,John. Her smile was so bright. She indeed was so talented and smart. She was diligent and determined. She worked for the best outcome for others. The world is a better place and less bright with her smiling face not here. Rest in peace. You fought so hard.

Charlotte was an extraordinary woman. An educator who encouraged and cared about students, a person who inspired and helped others. Her bright eyes and winning smile: unforgettable. Her presence in this world made a difference; her passing deeply felt by those lucky enough to have known her, been helped by her, or called her family or friend. Her legacy and gifts, live on. Mark's and my condolences to Ann, their extended family, and all who loved Charlotte.

Hello...Phil Dean here. I went to Cartersville High School with her. We played trumpet together and were constantly swapping first chair in band. We were true friends. Condolances and regrets to her family and current friends. My heart hurts.
