Charlotte Mae Emling, 99, of Kirkland, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Bickford of Rockford.
On a beautiful summer day, July 7, 1925, in Whiting, Ind., the fifth child of seven was born to George and Ida (Homan) Gehrke, They named her Charlotte Mae. When she was a young girl, they moved to Aroma Park, Ill. She met and later married Robert John Emling on Nov. 17, 1945, in Kankakee.
Charlotte was a very social person and loved to be around people and was involved in many organizations. She had two real passions, reading and playing cards.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Duane (Florence) Emling, Steven Emling, Anne (Greg) Hamilton, Nancy (Dan) Norris, Elizabeth (Jim) Reints, and John Emling; grandchildren, Angie (Curt) Taylor, A.J. (Laurel) Reints, and Blake (Shelma) Hamilton; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pat Emling; and many nieces and nephews
She was the last of her siblings and was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert; daughter-in-law, Florence; and son-in-law, Dan.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 340 South Stott St., Genoa, IL 60135.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Sunday, Dec. 1, at Olson's Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 S. Fifth St., Kirkland, IL 60146. Burial will be at Charter Oak Cemetery, Cherry Valley Road, Kirkland.
