Charlotte (Brooks) Hargett, 75, a symbol of love and selflessness, passed away on October 17, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice. Born in the close-knit community of West Union, Ohio, Charlotte lived a life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and the simple joys that stitch a rich tapestry of memories.
A cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, Charlotte's enduring love story with her husband Robert spanned 53 beautiful years. Together, they raised a family that became her world. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Hargett; daughters, Jennifer (Josh) Whaley, and Stephanie Hargett, and her adored grandchildren, Corey Davis and Ashlyn (Chris Nichols) Meyer. Charlotte's legacy of love continues through them. Her life was influenced by the loss of her daughter, Angela Wells, her sisters, Judy Gray and Brenda Lewis, her brothers, Dennis Brooks and Kenneth Brooks, her parents, George and Edna Brooks, all of whom she held dear in her heart.
Charlotte's hands were rarely still. She was an amazing seamstress who had the honor of making bridal gowns that would become cherished heirlooms. Her skills and warm spirit were greatly valued.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Charlotte found serenity in quilting, a reflection of her meticulous nature, and her garden was a testament to her ability to cultivate beauty in the world. Her selfless nature was evident in how she always put others before herself, whether through the meals she cooked, the books she read, or the care she lavished on her family. She will always be known for her infectious belly laugh. Charlotte's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges with grace.
An avid fan, Charlotte could be found offering enthusiastic advice from her armchair during UK basketball games and NASCAR races, her passion for her teams as unwavering as her commitment to her family.
Those who knew Charlotte will remember her as loving and faith-filled, a woman who embodied selflessness in every action. Her warm smile and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Charlotte's life was a testimony to the power of giving, and her memory will be a comfort to those she leaves behind. Her spirit, carried on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the blooming of her flowers, and the echoes of her gentle guidance, will forever be a guiding light for her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held on October 23, 2024, 12:30 PM at Union Rice Cemetery, Union, KY.
There will be food and refreshments following the service.
