Shirley Evelyn Allen, a cherished soul whose light shone brightly, passed away peacefully on the 21st of July, 2025, in Independence, Kentucky. Born on the 31st of January, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, Shirley dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community, leaving a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Shirley has been a devoted member of her church where she sang in the choir alongside her sister since 1966, for nearly fifty years, bestowing upon her congregation the gift of her voice and deep faith.
Shirley reveled in the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in playing card games, particularly euchre, and was an ardent film enthusiast with a vast knowledge of classic movies. Her love for puzzles and reading extended her world of exploration, while the enriching sounds of classical music filled her days with inspiration.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Aimee (Brian) Worley, and son, Andrew Allen, along with her cherished grandchildren, Isabelle and Allen Worley. The bond they shared with her was a testament to her nurturing nature and unwavering support.
Shirley is also survived by her twin sister, Sheila Brosmore, who shared an inseparable connection with her since birth. The two shared countless memories and experiences, building a lifetime of friendship that will remain a treasured aspect of their lives.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ronald Ray Allen, whom she lovingly shared thirty-eight years of marriage, and her dear parents, Rogers Williams Knox and Dorothy Adaline Souther. Each of these losses shaped Shirley and fueled her resilience, fortifying her faith and her capacity for love.
The visitation to celebrate Shirley's life will be held on July 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Christ - Burlington Campus, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the same location.
