Charlotte Annette Swanson, born on November 19, 1937, in Preston, Minnesota, peacefully departed this life on November 14, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina. A devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Charlotte’s legacy is one filled with strength, determination, and a deep sense of pride in her military service.
Charlotte, whose maiden name was Schwartz, dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving her country. She honorably served in both the Army and the Air Force, embodying the values of commitment and resilience throughout her military career. Following her service, she continued her passion for helping others as a Correctional Counselor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where her strong character shone brightly in her dedication to her profession.
Family was of utmost importance to Charlotte. She is survived by her beloved son, Michael Swanson (Mary); her cherished daughters, Julie Cutts (Sid) and Susan Hughes (Wayne); and a host of grandchildren, including Jessica Swanson (Gray), Micheala Batayneh (David), Taylor Webb (Thomas), Beau Cutts (Caroline), Bryles Montague (Trevor), Huntley Hughes, and Skyler Hughes. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Batayneh, Anna Minor Webb, Fred Webb, and Finn Cutts. Additionally, she is survived by her extended family too numerous to name, all of whom will deeply miss her presence.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Schwartz and Carmen Norby Schwartz, and her four siblings.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Charlotte’s remarkable life with a visitation on November 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, both of which will be held at Gentry-Newell and Vaughan of 503 College St, Oxford, NC. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, with a burial commencing at 3:30 PM.
Charlotte Annette Swanson will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her unwavering dedication to her family and her country, and the profound impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her.
