Charlotte A. Teel (nee Cooney), 85, went home to our Lord on May 14, 2024. Charlotte was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Charles and Helen (nee Herrmann) Cooney. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Cooney (Marty) and sister, Kathleen Cooney; predeceased by her sisters Helen Taylor (Jack) and Ann McGarrigle (John), and her brothers Charles Cooney (Nancy) and Daniel Cooney.
Charlotte was the beloved wife of 59 years to the love of her life Raymond C. Teel. They met and were engaged at the Miraculous Medal Shrine in Philadelphia which sparked Charlotte's lifelong devotion to Our Mother Mary. Charlotte was the loving mother of Raymond J. Teel (Marly), Judith Devone (Brian), Cynthia Harris (Robert), Maura Fry, Andrew Teel (Kate), and Charlene Black (Thomas). She was the "best Mom-Mom ever" to her 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Charlotte was a proud alumna of Little Flower Girls High School in Philadelphia. After graduation, she was a secretary at the Philadelphia Navy Depot where she was employed until the birth of her first child. Charlotte was the epitome of a devoted wife and nurturing, selfless mother to her active family; never missing a child's school event or sports game. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, and she spent countless hours with a book and a child in her lap. She had a passion for her hometown of Philadelphia and enjoyed the Phillies and the mummers parade (and even had a good strut.) She was an exceptional example of faith in action attending daily Mass as a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Merchantville and serving weekly adoration hours at Resurrection Church in Delran. She served as an instructor of CCD at St. Peter's in Riverside for numerous years and for a short time at St. Peter's in Merchantville. Charlotte was a lover of all life – a passionate spokesperson for the most innocent, the unborn. As such, she volunteered countless hours with various pro-life organizations through the years and she used her talent as a writer to pen many published letters to the editor in defense of the unborn. She walked the walk, literally, attending the annual March for Life in Washington, DC for as long as she was able. She was also a founding member of the Lancers for Life student group at Holy Cross High School. Because she saw God's image in all human life, she exuded goodness, kindness and love to all she encountered leaving the world a much better place. Charlotte will be missed beyond measure.
2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, on Wednesday evening, May 22nd, from 6 to 8 pm. We lived next door to Charlotte and even though my Mom was approximately 30 years older, Charlotte became a good friend to my Mom and the best of neighbors. As my Mom got old and wasn't able to drive anymore, Charlotte drove her to daily Mass and was so patient and kind to my Mom. She has such respect for the elderly. She even one day was apologizing that she had a van and wished she had a car that was easier for my Mom to get into. Her husband Ray also helped my Mom. Charlotte was always worried about everyone else and was always asking me to pray for someone who was sick. We kept in touch by email after we moved and Charlotte was so proud of her children and grandchildren and always sending me pictures of her grandchildren and was so excited when another grandchild or great grandchild was born.
In almost every email she was retelling a joke she heard and love it when I shared a joke with her. She had such a nice sense of humor! I am grateful she lived next door to us in Cinnaminson. She will be missed.

Charlotte was our next door neighbor for many wonderful years. She was kind, helping, and the best neighbor a person could have. Often she would spend time helping and giving companionship to her friend, my aging mother, her close friend in life, and now after. Together my Mom and Charlotte would attend daily mass, as well as fight for the unborn, as both were avid pro right to life'rs. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, and especially by the Morris'. RIP Ms Teel.... Jay Morris
