Charlyce Eileen Sitar

Charlyce Eileen Sitar, age 93, of Valparaiso, Indiana, longtime Chesterton resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was born on November 29, 1931, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Charles and Leona (Reglein) Granat.
Char was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Sitar; her parents; infant son, Thomas Sitar; two brothers, Bruce Granat, Gary Granat; sister, Gayle Granat; and son in law, Walter Burns.
She is survived by her six children, Jill Burns, Jan Needler (Don), Debra (Richard) Baron, Timothy Sitar (Bob), Terence Sitar (Matt), Cynthia (Paul) Dlutkowski; sister, Jackie (Wayne) Lind; six grandchildren, Patrick Burns, Julie Foster, Jonathan (Anjelita) Needler, Michael Baron, Eric (Lindsay) Nashkowski, Alex Dlutkowski; nine great grandchildren, Lincoln, Ray, Abram, Otto, Millie, Andrew, Jack, Aleida, Penelope; and many extended family and friends.
Char was a homemaker while raising her children. She later worked for the Chesterton Town Hall and retired at the age of 70. Char was also a member of Delta Theta Tau. Char enjoyed playing Bridge, cards, and games. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Char was an excellent cook and seamstress. Her greatest strength was to make her family feel unconditional love. The family would like to thank the staff at Pines Village, The VNA Hospice of Northwest Indiana, and Nurse Steve from the 2nd floor of Porter Hospital, for the empathy and care they showed with Char and her family.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Deacon Dennis Guernsey officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383, Pines Village at www.pinesvillage.org/senior-citizen-charities, or to a charity of your choice.
