Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lambie Funeral Home - Philadelphia on Jan. 11, 2026.
Charlyn G. Mifflin, born on May 21, 1947, in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was a woman of immense spirit and creativity. Her name was derived from her loving parents Charles and Evelyn.
Charlyn was a loving wife to Michael Mifflin, with whom she spent 45 years of blessed matrimony after marrying on January 16, 1981. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, working hard to raise her children, spending the last ten years in Texas with her husband to spend time with her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to Edward Grove, Scott Grove (Denise Grove) and Christine Beck (Darren Beck), a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren; Garrett Grove, Hailey Beck, Ethan Grove, Shealyn Sheffield (Beck), Maegan Kidd (Beck), Elise Grove, Devon Grove, Cullen Grove, and Kacey Grove, and a doting great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren; Paul and Jocelyn.
Charlyn enjoyed adventures with her husband Mike at the campgrounds in New Jersey and found joy in the many wonderful pets that they shared together over the years. She also held a special place in her heart for Philadelphia sports and enjoyed going to Ocean City, NJ.
Her life was a beautiful harmony of love and compassion, a melody that resonated in the hearts of those she touched. Charlyn was an avid singer, her voice echoing the joy and strength she carried within her. Her love for the arts didn't stop at singing; she found pleasure in crafting and photography, encapsulating her world in colors and frames. She loved collecting lighthouses. Her favorite color was emerald green. She was an active member of the Everyday People choir group and Holmesburg Baptist Church, where she often sang in the choir, her voice a testament to her faith and love for the Lord. Above all else, it was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, that mattered most to her.
Charlyn's life was a testament to the verse from the Bible, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). She was indeed a radiant light that shone brightly, illuminating the lives of those around her.
Her other favorite verse was inspired by her father, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31). Her favorite song that she loved to sing was "His eye is on the sparrow" which was inspired from Matthew 10:29-31 and Luke 12:6-7, where Jesus teaches that God's care extends even to the smallest of His creatures, assuring His followers they are far more valuable and watched over by Him. She lived her life with a spirit that was as vibrant as the city she was born in, Philadelphia, then Andalusia, Pennsylvania, where she later called home and was lovingly cared for by Suzanne Grove and Charlyn's former husband and father of her children Carl (Ed) Grove.
She is survived by her husband Michael, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Evelyn Guthapfel.
