Chase Ruth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hile Funeral Home - Emlenton on Jan. 14, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of our beloved Chase Jason Ruth, 18, of Emlenton on Sunday, January 11th, 2026.

Chase was born in Kittanning on April 10, 2007. He was the son of Kirk and Ashley Geer Ruth. He was a 2025 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg, and was attending La Roche College in Pittsburgh, with hopes of becoming an FBI agent, specializing in counter domestic terrorism . While not in college, Chase had a part-time job at the Plaza Restaurant in Emlenton, and owned and operated his own baseball card business online.

Chase was a person who would help anyone in need, and with a crooked smile and quick wit was always ready with a smart and funny comeback. He was always coming up with new ways to "torment" his sisters. His first love was baseball, where he excelled in catching and pitching, but could skillfully play any position. At A-C Valley, Chase also participated in Cross Country. Chase loved playing miniature golf with his mom, where he was always victorious. He loved all sports, and most especially, enjoyed talking sports with his dad, as he showed him all of his baseball card collection.

He enjoyed hunting with his grandpa, was an avid animal-lover, most especially his cat, "Athena". He also enjoyed video gaming with his friends, especially his cousin, Seth.

Chase is survived by his parents, Kirk and Ashley Ruth of Emlenton; his sisters and brother-in-law, Kyley Freeman, of Emlenton, and Abby and Jonathan Mason, of Morgantown, WV, and his nephew, Joseph "Joey" Mason. Also surviving are Chase's maternal grandparents, Randy and Sue Geer, his great-grandmother, Anna Geer, his paternal grandparents, Dale Ruth and Phyllis and Ted Ditner, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his step-grandmother, Elaine Ruth, and a cousin, Jacob Ruth.

Chase will be forever missed, always remembered, and eternally loved. Chase's final wish was for anyone suffering from mental illness to please seek help.

Several children received their life saving miracle from Chase because of his final and compassionate gift of organ donation.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton from Noon-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jacob Langdon, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Memorial contributions in Chase's name may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 3727 Oneida Valley Rd, Emlenton, PA 16373.
