Cherilyn R. Rechner

Cherilyn R. Rechner (née Anders), 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026 surrounded by the deep love of her family. She was born February 9, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio and had been a resident of Vernon Hills, Illinois since 1977.

In 1967, Cheryl received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Home Economics from the College of St. Mary's of the Springs, in Ohio, and taught for one year. On April 20, 1968 she married her husband, David, and traveled to Germany to live while he served in the military. During her career, she was a homemaker, managed a fabric store, and worked as an insurance agent. Cheryl was an original member of St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church in Indian Creek, where she remained a very active and faithful parishioner.

Her lifelong passion was being a seamstress and she took immense pride in being a founding member and dedicated volunteer for the local chapter of the Dress A Girl Around the World organization. During her 15 years as a DAG volunteer, she sewed thousands of dresses which were shared with deserving children all across the globe. Over the last several years of her life, her goal was to sew one dress each day and many days she doubled that number. Cheryl also enjoyed gardening, boating, traveling, reading, swimming, watching movies, going to the theater, and especially hosting gatherings for her friends and family. She was always ready for a game night and new adventures. Most of all, she loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother!

Surviving is her devoted and loving husband of 57 years, David Rechner; children, Andrea Perrin, Christine Rechner, Douglas Rechner; grandchildren, Jarred Winandy, Meredith Perrin, Sutton Rechner; brother, Dennis (Karen) Anders and sister, Pamela (Bob) Cibik; many nieces, nephews, and loyal friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Geraldine Anders, sister, Nancy Dela Roca, and nephew, Steve Anders. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US-45 S., Indian Creek, IL. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
