Cherrie Smyth Obituary
December 25, 1945 - December 26, 2025
Cherrie G. (Hazelwood) Smyth, age 80, of Eden Prairie, Minn., formerly of Bloomington, Ill., died peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025. Private family services will be held in Illinois at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded as per her wishes. Cherrie was born on December 25, 1945 in Atlanta, Ill., to Sanford and Jessie (Robbins) Hazelwood. She was the oldest of two daughters. Cherrie was employed by Illinois Wesleyan University for 28 years. She enjoyed working for the University, and had many close friends in the Bloomington, Ill. area. She often reminisced about her fun times and great friends from Illinois. She retired in 2008, then moved to Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents. She loved and cherished her son, Jeff (Robin) Billington of Normal, Ill.; and daughter, Julie (Rob) Wilke of Prior Lake, Minn. She was a loving "MeMe" to her grandchildren, Allie (Austin) Behrens, Ross Wilke (Marina Ferraz-Souza), JJ Billington and Rylee (Jordan) Walker and also their child, her first great-grandson, Kasen. She is also survived by her sister, Millie Bolyard of Chestnut, Ill. and other relatives and dear friends in the Bloomington/Normal, Ill. area.
