Cherry was born January 6, 1955, in Moline, to Elijah and Patricia (Williams) Lucas. She attended schools in East Moline, IL. She married Wayne E. Sivels on June 30, 1984, in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death. She worked for many years at Montgomery Wards, Palmer Chiropractic College, and lastly at the Benedictine Sisters of Saint Mary Monastery where she did housekeeping. She collected elephant art, African American figurines, wishbones and rooks she thought looked cool. She enjoyed cooking and was especially known for her spaghetti. She also enjoyed cleaning and taking care of her plants. Cherry loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband to concerts, festivals and family reunions, and hanging out with her friends and family. She was the life of the party and loved to laugh and joke. Cherry was love at first sight to most and her smile was infectious and will live on forever.

To the family of Cherry Lucas Sivels, I send my deepest sympathies. Cherry and I grew up together in East Moline and as I was reading her obituary, it was mentioned about Cherrys infectious smile and that it was I remembered so many times when we would talk she kept that smile on her face, it was unforgettable. She was one of the friendliest people one could ever meet and I know because I have known Cherry most of our lives. She will be sorely missed.
