Cheri Riddle, a loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, just shy of her 71st birthday. She was born in Lima, Ohio on June 22, 1954, and lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and deep connection to those around her.
Cheri's life was guided by her unwavering Christian faith and her love for Jesus, which she shared most intimately with her beloved husband, Mike Riddle. Their marriage, built on a foundation of spiritual devotion and mutual care, spanned 51 years. They met on a mission trip at her age of 19, a fateful moment that began a lifetime of love. Cheri moved to Mike's hometown of
Dalton, Georgia, where they built their life and raised two sons, Stephen and Jeremy.
A warm and welcoming spirit, Cheri made friends easily and kept them close for decades. She was genuine, gentle, kind, and always truthful. Whether you knew her for years or met her just once, her light stayed with you. She was beloved by her family and church community, forming meaningful bonds throughout the decades.
Cheri's dedication extended to her work as well. She spent nearly 40 years as the office manager for Dr. Reggie Sherrill's plastic and reconstructive surgery practice, where she was not only the heart of the office but also an integral part of countless patients' experiences. Her job was a source of pride and identity until an allergic reaction dramatically altered her health. Over the next 15 years, she faced compounding medical challenges with strength and grace. Mike, her devoted partner in every sense, retired early to care for her full time. Together, they continued to make joyful memories-especially on cruises, where they made lasting friendships and enjoyed life on the sea.
Cheri's love for her family was fierce and enduring. She was the proud mother of two sons and the adoring grandmother of Wimberly (her deepest joy after Mike), Gilly, and Everett. She shared a close, meaningful bond with her daughter-in-law Kirstin and felt an instant, loving connection with Jeremy's partner, Wen.
Early in her time in Georgia, she was also a committed Head Start bus driver and teacher, investing in the well-being of children in her community. In everything she did-from her faith and family to her work and friendships-Cheri gave her full heart.
Cheri is preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents, Granny and Paw Paw Baker; her siblings David and Linda; and her in-laws, including several dear friends. She is survived by her sons Stephen (Kirstin) and Jeremy (Wen); grandchildren Wimberly (Dylan), Gilly, and Everett; and her great grandson Milo,as well as her sister Kathy; sisters-in-law Glo and Ellen; and her beloved mother-in-law, Momma Johnnie, who is 97.
Cheri Riddle's legacy is one of unconditional love, radiant faith, and a gentle strength that touched everyone around her. She will be missed deeply and remembered always.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 6pm at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Postell officiating.
