Graveside services for Cheryl Beasley, 81, of Edgewood, Texas, were held Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Small Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home.

Cheryl passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Forney, Texas.

Cheryl Ann Prestidge was born on February 25, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Andrew Milton Prestidge and Billie Jo Green Prestidge. She was raised in Fort Worth and attended Castleberry High School in River Oaks, graduating with the Class of 1961.

Cheryl married Ray Beasley in 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas, and together they had three children. The couple were married for 15 years before divorcing. She later married James E. Cobb, and they made their home in Terrell.

Cheryl worked as a truck driver for a short time before beginning a long career at Terrell State Hospital, where she retired after 20 years of service, becoming chief of security. She was of the Baptist faith. Cheryl enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, and especially cherished time spent with her family. In recent years, she had been experiencing some health issues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Billie Jo Prestidge; her husband, James E. Cobb; her sister, Becky Garrison; and her grandson, Michael Shane Murphee.

Cheryl is survived by her sons, Dwayne Beasley and wife Sylvia of Edgewood, Texas; Douglas Beasley and wife Lica of Edgewood, Texas; and Jason Beasley and wife Rose of Aledo, Texas. She is also survived by her special friends, Joe and Yvette Rice of Wills Point, Texas; her grandchildren, Blair Nicole Newberry and husband Bobby of Canton, Texas, Cotton Beasley of Edgewood, Texas, Damon Flurry, Hannah Flurry, Zaiden Beasley, Damjan Beasley, and Zatchery Beasley; along with her great-grandchildren, Alexis Newberry, Lila JoAnn Newberry, and Addison Flurry.
