Cheryl Corbin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forest Meadows Funeral Home - Gainesville on Oct. 1, 2025.
Cheryl Ann Theresa Corbin, 67, died peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of July 17, 2025. She was born on May 6, 1958 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Ann and Homer Corbin.
She graduated from Gainesville High School as a dual enrollment student at Santa Fe College. She went on to a career in the civil service, working at the Veterans Administration hospital in Gainesville until her retirement.
She married her high school sweetheart, John Gouge, and as young parents, welcomed their daughter Melissa Gouge shortly thereafter. Cheryl enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing, and taking care of the many dogs that lived happier lives after finding shelter in her warm, loving home.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Dr. Melissa Gouge, mother Ann Corbin, sisters Peggy Conard and Karen (Denis) Lawton, nieces Kimberly (Drew) Andrews and Stephanie (Chris) Turowski, brother-in-law Billy (Jackie) Gouge, sister-in-law Patty (Scott) Singletary, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends. She is predeceased by: her husband, John Gouge; father, Homer Corbin; daughter, Eden Gouge; niece, Amy Corbin; and grand-nephew Paden Homer Andrews.
Her charisma, esoteric knowledge, tender heart, and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew her. A private family service will be held at St Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs with beloved Father Sebastian presiding. She will be inurned at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery in Rochelle, Florida and scattered in the Scottish Highlands, UK.
In her memory, the family asks that you go for a drive with your windows down listening to Bob Seger, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, or Tracy Chapman and sing your heart out.
