Cheryl Lynn Hemmingsen, 79, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Fruitland Park, Florida.
Born on November 20, 1946, in Hinsdale, Illinois, Cheryl was the daughter of Ralph Everett Bailey and Marjorie Bailey. She spent her early years in Illinois and went on to build a fulfilling life marked by dedication and warmth.
Cheryl devoted 30 years of her professional life as a Claims Representative for Country Companies. Her commitment to excellence and attention to detail earned the respect of both colleagues and clients throughout her long career.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Judie, brother Ralph, daughter Rhae Brockhoff and her husband Greg; her son Todd Nelson and his wife Marie; and her grandchildren: Lindsay Brockhoff, Logan Brockhoff, Quinn Nelson, Cooper Nelson, and Chase Nelson. Cheryl found great joy in watching her family grow and thrive.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Hemmingsen; her parents Ralph Everett Bailey and Marjorie Bailey; her brothers Dennis Bailey and Max Denton along with many aunts and uncles.
Cheryl had a deep affection for animals and found joy in their companionship. She also enjoyed playing golf and spending time baking cookies-activities that brought happiness to her days and allowed her to share that joy with others.
Her memory will live on through the lives she touched with kindness, dedication, and love. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
