Cheryl's life began Dec. 4, 1952, in St. Joseph during a snowstorm, according to her mother. She grew up in St. Joseph. After high school she became a licensed practical nurse working at Mercy Hospital. Cheryl then went to work at Cedarwood Medical and Watervliet Community Hospital. She met Ron Ketelhut at a bowling alley; they married in 1985 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage. Cheryl enjoyed traveling, she and Ron spent many long weekends traveling from coast to coast.
Cheryl loved her family which includes her husband, Ron Ketelhut; two sons: Thomas Ketelhut and Darren Ketelhut; and a grandson, Wyatt Ketelhut.
Cheryl died Friday, March 20, 2026, at home surrounded by family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Barbara (Theesfeld) Cooper, and younger brother, Bradley Cooper.
Funeral services will be celebrated at noon on Friday, March 27, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor, with visitation prior starting at 11 a.m.
