With heavy hearts we morn the passing of Cheryl Ann Walker, at 77 of Bedford Virginia. She passed away after a long illness and declining health. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Cheryl was born Shirley Ann King at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Cheryl was a quiet and intelligent child who loved to help others. She found her calling early in life graduating from Central Chester County Vocational Technical School in February 1969 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She returned to Chester County Hospital to begin what would become a decades long nursing career in the Philadelphia area. She thrived in the fast paced, high pressure, physically demanding environment of an operating room.
Over the years Cheryl continued her education achieving both an RN and SFA (surgical first assistant) working at Jefferson Hospital where she led a transplant surgical team and later at CHOP where her declining health made that work too taxing.
When Cheryl met Michael Walker, she knew he was the one. They spent a long and wonderful life together enjoying each other's company and exploring the night life in Philadelphia. After Michael’s passing in 2006 Cheryl would move to Bedford Virginia to live with her mother.
Cheryl was a life long sports fan enjoying the Phillies, the Eagles, NASCAR and golf. She loved baking for her family and friends' cakes using Wilton molds to make elaborate special occasion showpieces. She also liked puzzles, embroidery, and staying home surrounded by family.
Cheryl is survived by sisters Bonnie Wallace and Kathryn Dunn (Stephen), brothers John Pusey (Roseanne), Matthew Sheppeck Jr (Margaret) and Richard Sheppeck (Patty), stepchildren Michael S Walker (Barbara), Lorraine Parker (Ernest Jr), Kelly Anne Nonemacker (Robert Sr) and James C Walker (Deborah), seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael J Walker, her mother Ida May (King) Sheppeck and grandmother Mildred G King.
