Cheryl Ann LaLonde, Ph. D of Marblehead - a biochemistry specialist who worked for more than 20 years with Brigham & Women's burn center - died Friday, October 3, 2025, at age 73, of heart failure.

Cheryl's professional life was devoted to helping those critically injured from burns. One of her specialties was multi system organ failure which was a critical problem for burn victims. Cheryl was a healer who went beyond what is expected in a hospital setting to help patients regain their joy for living and was often see showing former patients the ins and outs of fishing.

Dr. Lalonde leaves behind her loving partner of 18 years, Aileen Gorman, her mother Elizabeth who is 99 and living at the Devereux Rehabilitation Center, her sister Candace and brother-in-law George Eliopoulos of Virginia, her brother Stephen of Marblehead and several nieces and nephews.

Cheryl retired in the early 2000s because of the impact diabetes was having on her health. She moved back to Marblehead and focused her energy and creativity on gardening. Many in town have seen and commented on her beautiful, raised beds. Each garden bed was spaced perfectly so her wheelchair could fit through with ease. She was always available to give tips to those who stopped by and asked questions.

Cheryl was often seen driving through town on her scooter with a large white bird on her hand bars and a dog in tow running beside her. Cheryl lived life to the fullest despite the medical challenges she faced.

Visitation will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home in Salem on Tuesday October 7 from 5-7pm. Burial will be private.
