Cheryl M. McQuaide, age 67, of Newark, Del., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.
Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 4, 1957, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Sczerba) Holobetz. After graduating from Minersville Area High School, Cheryl earned her B.S. in Accounting from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. She started her career in public accounting and then went into private accounting with several major firms and then with the state of Pennsylvania, where she worked for 15 years as a senior field tax auditor in the department of revenue.
Cheryl will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving person. She was very close to her family and enjoyed traveling, visiting the beach, and barbecuing with family and friends.
Cheryl will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 11 years, Timothy C. McQuaide; children, Christian and Kelsea Snyder; siblings, Corinne Moon, George Holobetz, Basil Holobetz (Michelle), and Mark Holobetz; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends; and her beloved cat, Sampson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, Del., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Rte 213 at Childs Road and Singerly Road, Elkton, MD 21921.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cheryl's name can be made to Holy Family Food Pantry at the address above.
