Cheryl Marie Ponchaud (Cheney) ObituaryCrystal Falls – Cheryl Marie Ponchaud, 72, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at her home after a long hard fought battle of cancer.
She was born on June 3, 1953, in Crystal Falls to the late Benjamin and Esther (Benton) Cheney.
She was married to Volney "Ponch" Ponchaud on November 8, 1969, at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Falls. She worked for twenty-eight years at Fob's. She enjoyed camping, riding Harley's with her husband, her dog, Izzy, and loved getting lost in a good book.
She is survived by her sons, Aaron (Marnie Gilligan) Ponchaud of Crystal Falls, Mich., and Brad Ponchaud of Lomira, Wisc.; daughter, Laurie Hernandez of Crystal Falls, Mich.; three grandchildren, Cody (Meegan), Chase (Angela), and Casey; sister, Susan (Gene) Francisco; sister-in-law, Glenrose Fatturi; and many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Volney "Ponch" Ponchaud in June of 2024; her grandson, Anthony Hernandez; and brother-in-law, Jerry Fatturi.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls, Mich. A Celebration of Cheryl's Life will be at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Vicky Prewitt officiating.
