Cheryl Gromer White

Cheryl Gromer White, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at home in the arms of her husband. She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on August 29, 1944, the daughter of Donald L. Gromer and Mary Manchaca Gromer. As a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Cheryl graduated from Ribault High School – Class of 1962.

She reunited with her high school sweetheart, Robert White, and they married on March 19, 2005 in Jacksonville, Florida. During her marriage to Robert, she experienced life to the fullest, traveling and creating lasting memories. They brought out the best in each other.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mama, Aunt Cheryl, and Nannie. She found great joy in giving to others, whether with her time, talents, or money, she always did it with love. Her greatest blessings called her Nannie. She treasured time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They knew Nannie loved them dearly.

She had a natural green thumb, carefully nurturing all of her plants to thrive. Growing succulents was a favorite passion she recently enjoyed.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert White; 2 daughters, Dana Gillis (Mark) and Angie Godwin (Kevin); grandson, Joshua Godwin; granddaughter, Paige Nicolosi; great granddaughter, Payton Godwin; 2 great grandsons, Jensen Godwin and Maverick Nicolosi; a sister, Pat Weyand; nephew, Lorne Weyand; and niece, Laine Reno (Keith), as well as many friends and extended family members. Preceded in death by her sister, Donna Bartlett and great grandson, Asher Gray Godwin.

Celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Reavis, officiating. Her family will greet friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
