Michael Wayne Jakob

Michael Wayne Jakob, 61, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mike was born in Spain to Christian Charles Jakob and Norma Jean Jakob. Most of his life was spent in the Jacksonville area, where he retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy after 24 years of service. His Navy career brought him immense pride, where he made and continued many lifelong friendships. He was also retired from the US Postal Service. Mike was a member of the FOP, loved fishing, traveling (especially cruising), was a true foodie and enjoyed a good bourbon. He was an avid soccer fan and also passionately rooted for the Tampa Bay Rays and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cindy Jakob; son: Reid Jakob (Dylan); brother: Shannon Jakob (Mindy); 2 sisters: Sherry Letien (Brian) and Kelly Wynn (Gene); numerous aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his goldendoodle, Chief.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane #2).

Military Honors will be provided.

Prior to the graveside service, his family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 14165 N. Main Street (Building C).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's honor to the American Cancer Society or the USO.
