In Loving Memory of Cheryle J. Kimball
Cheryle J. Kimball was born on March 31, 1961, in
Portland, Maine - the sixth daughter and eleventh child of her family. From an early age, she showed the drive, strength, and heart that would define her life.
On March 1, 2026, Cheryle was welcomed into eternal peace and greeted with open arms by her beloved parents, June and Russ, and her dear siblings, John, Beth, and Wendy. She was joyfully reunited with her cherished four-legged family members, Tashie, Jackson, and Indigo. Though her family feels the immense sorrow of her passing, they find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her.
Cheryle took great joy in hosting family gatherings - whether lively summer barbecues or festive holiday dinners. An exceptional cook, she found true happiness in watching others enjoy the meals she lovingly prepared. Her gatherings were legendary, complete with the famous family wiffle ball game and late-night celebrations filled with music and poker, where she could often be heard playfully saying, "Can I win just once?"
Though miles and moments sometimes stretched between siblings, Cheryle never allowed distance to become absence. She had a way of closing any gap - sometimes with the soft brush of her hand against your cheek as you walked through the door, sometimes with a voice on the other end of the line insisting, "Get here right now." In her world, love did not wait, and family was never far. She carried warmth the way others carry breath - naturally and constantly - making every space feel like home and every person feel chosen. To be near her was to feel welcomed, claimed, and cherished.
An outstanding athlete, Cheryle excelled in field hockey, softball, and basketball during her high school years. Her talent and dedication earned her a full athletic scholarship to college - an achievement reflecting both her natural ability and her fierce determination.
Cheryle was one of the few female Master Electricians in the state of Maine and later earned her MBA, a testament to her intelligence, perseverance, and remarkable work ethic. She built a life grounded in hard work and integrity, always striving to better herself while lifting those around her.
Formerly of Portland and Stoughton, Cheryle cherished the communities where she built lasting friendships and treasured memories. She was known for her random acts of kindness, her encouraging words, and her unwavering support when it was needed most. Many have shared how profoundly she impacted their lives. She was selfless, compassionate, understanding, and quick to forgive - a truly beautiful soul whose quiet strength touched everyone blessed to know her.
Cheryle was the beloved partner of Cathie Eldridge. Together they shared a life rooted in love, devotion, and deep companionship. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of Cathie; her siblings Connie, Jim, Charles, Bryant, Patty, Mary, Gary, Russ, and Carol, numerous nieces and nephews - especially her adored niece Meghan and nephew Stephen, her treasured companions MiniMe, Willard, and Momma Kitty, her wonderful in-laws,and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors who provided such compassionate care, especially Dr. Sonny and Nurses Robyn, Chi, and Sheryl. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort during a very difficult time and will never be forgotten.
Cheryle carried an unending love for her family, always putting others before herself. Her warmth, generous heart, and steady presence made the world brighter. Anyone blessed to know her - even briefly - has lost a shining light.
Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and in the countless lives she touched with her compassion. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Life is fleeting, but the light Cheryle kindled in all of us does not dim with time. It glows in memory, in laughter, and in the quiet moments when we feel her nearness still.
A small, private celebration of life will be held in Stoughton, with a larger gathering in Maine at a later date.
