In Loving Memory
Chesna Lee Simmons (Gran) went to see her Lord in Heaven the last week of May at the age of 96. Our sweet Mother left this world peacefully in her home in Albuquerque surrounded by her daughters, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her three dogs that she loved to constantly treat!
Chesna was born on October 28, 1928, in Hollis Oklahoma where she grew up on a farm. She and her husband, Don moved to Roswell, New Mexico in 1962 where they both raised their children and began their careers in education for the Roswell Independent Schools. Chesna began teaching first grade at that time, and up until the last month of her life she spoke to her hospice nurses about how much she loved to see her students run across the playground and jump into her arms for a hug. Until last Christmas she was still making sight word cards and beginning blends trying to teach her four youngest great-grandchildren to read.
If you were blessed to know this sweet woman, you felt God’s love through her. If you were having a bad day, one of Gran’s hugs could make you instantly smile. As much as Chesna loved teaching first grade, she also loved sharing her love for God with others and will be remembered as a person who truly lived out Galatians 5:22-23. Chesna is survived by her daughters, many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
In lieu of donations, a month before she died Chesna requested that we continue to pray for People/Children living in poverty or homeless, Parents, Pastors, Missionaries, Military, Teachers, Policemen, Nurses and Doctors or any Medical People and The Leaders of Our Country.
