Chester “Chet” Dreyer passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on the 10th of October in 2025 at the age of 92. Chet was born in 1933 in Elsmere, Kentucky. He was the youngest son to Chester and Dorothy Highhouse Dreyer and resided in the Erlanger/ Elsmere Ky area most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of Lloyd Memorial High School, where he excelled in many different sports including football, basketball and track.
After graduating high school, Chet was drafted into the United States Army during the tail end of the Korean War era. Chet was stationed in Japan and that is where he had a job in Communications. While stationed in the 1st Calgary in Japan, Chet was on the Army base football team and was one of the teams starring players playing defensive end and was the team's punter . His United States military service meant the world to him, and Chet was visibly proud of being a veteran.
Upon Chet's return from the military he began a career at Transworld Airlines (TWA) he worked many positions at the airlines starting in baggage claim and eventually worked his way up the sales division. During his 25 years at TWA, he received multiple awards including Award of Excellence and Top Salesman for the year. Chet had many privileges at TWA including flying all over the world and also had the privilege at that time to work and travel with the Cincinnati Reds .
In 1958, he married the love of his life Carole Ann Ficke. And soon after starting a family of five, Chet and Carole once again settled in Erlanger and enjoyed 20 years of marriage together raising their children. Chet valued family more than anything.
Chet loved all kinds of sports and enjoyed playing golf, especially with his son, Chet, and grandsons. He was an active member of the American Legion, serving as chaplain . Chet had many likes and hobbies, but his biggest passion was dancing. Chet was a terrific dancer and enjoyed being part of the Cincinnati BOP Club, where he was able to travel to different places, dancing and doing what he loved. You could often find Big Chet twirling his four girls around the dance floor, beaming with pride.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was always ready for a good party. Chet was well respected by all who knew him and had such a big giving heart . He was known as an outgoing, caring, kind individual with an infectious laugh, believing in living life to the fullest .
Chet is preceded in death by his wife Carole, his mother Dorothy, his father Chester Sr., brother Lou Stevens, sister Muriel Fugh and his beloved granddaughter Kelsey Ann Sorrell.
On Earth, Chet leaves a legacy of faithful children: Cheryl Duncan, Terri Sorrell (Steve), Lisa Rooks (Spencer), Chet Dreyer Jr, and Jill Ross. He also leaves behind his well-adored 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
All who loved Chet are welcome to join us for a celebration of life at the Kenton Co. Golf Course immediately following the Mass and -per Chet’s request- for a final celebration at The Dixie Club in Erlanger.
