SANTA FE - Chester Nelson Peden passed from this life Friday, September 19, 2025, at his home.

He was born November 1, 1935, in Galveston, Texas and was a life-long resident of Galveston County. He served in the Army National Guard of Texas and worked for General Telephone & Electronics as an engineer before retiring.

He spent his retirement enjoying morning coffee with friends, eating at his favorite restaurant, Kelly's, and being outdoors. He was known for his Hawaiian style shirts and walking around his yard barefoot. He was a collector of many things including baseball and WWII memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian P. Peden; a son-in-law, Jimmy Reeves; and his parents, Chester William and Elvie Barnes Peden.

Survivors include a son, Robert Peden (India); two daughters, Regina Reeves and Tina Morgan; grandchildren include, Delaney Peden Wolovlek (Paul), David Reeves (Kristen), Matt Reeves (Katelyn), Kacy Reeves Smith (Norwood) and Hannah Peden; great-grandchildren include, Trevor Reeves, Zander Reeves, Evelyn Reeves, Landon Smith, Braxton Smith, and Haley Smith. He had two friends that he considered family, Guillo Meucci and Gumaro Tovar.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery. 7801 Gulf Freeway, Dickinson, Texas, under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to K9s for Warriors, 114 Camp K9 Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida 32081.
