Chester Joseph Stasney, Jr. (CJ, Chester Joe) started his party with the angels in heaven on Thursday, December 15, 2023. We have no doubt that he slid in screaming "Ariiiiba!!"
He was born to Chester Joseph Stasney and Marie Martin Stasney of Highlands, TX on March 22, 1952. Chester was the eldest of five children and is survived by his Mother, Marie and sisters, Elaine Marshall and husband, Eddie of Highlands, TX, Leah Stasney of Houston, TX and LaVern Kittsley and husband, Dodd of Pleasantville, NY and his brother Paul Stasney of Highlands, TX. He is also survived by nephews, Christopher Bird, Brett Marshall and wife Jessica, Seth Stasney, Payton and Cooper Kittsley and great nieces and nephews, Aubrey Bird, Fitzgerald, Callahan and Scottie Marshall as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and tons of friends (his Alabama family) that loved him dearly. He was never married but had a few great loves along the way. The greatest love he had was the many friendships he developed over the years.
Chester joined the army at 18 years old and was stationed in Washington DC. After his time in the military, he made his way to West Virginia where he stayed for a short period and eventually made his way down the east coast and ended in Autaugaville, AL where he spent the majority of his life. His career after the military began in insurance sales. Later in life he became the jack of all trades and the master of none. He was known for enjoying his life to the fullest. He loved hunting and fishing but most of all he loved visiting, partying, dancing and cooking for his friends. Chester was known as the life of the party and was always ready to go at a moments notice. He is also well known for his father's secret BBQ seasoning recipe that everyone wants.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Autaugaville Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am. Because Chester was so special, a second memorial will be held in Texas at a later date.
To share a memory or send a condolence to his family, please do so below. In lieu of flowers, Chester would want you to toast him and remember all the fun times you had together.
