Charlotte "Chestine" (Calder) Wall, age 96, of Mt. Olive in Casey County, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 13, 1928 to the late Curtis & Hattie (Wilson) Calder. She spent her childhood in the Science Hill community. On June 10, 1947, she married Russell Wall of Eubank and they moved to the Mt. Olive community in Casey County. They celebrated over 72 years of marriage.
She is survived by three daughters, Peggy & (Bernal) Buis of Eubank, KY, Nancy & (Janis) Smith of Mt. Olive, KY, and Debbie & (Bert) Spears of Bethelridge, KY; one son, Mark & (Sandra) Wall of Mt. Olive, KY; eight grandchildren, Allen & (Adrienne) Buis, Shanda & (Kenny) Catron, Jennifer & (Skip) Todd, Kristy & (Barry) Lee, Stacey Clark, Beth Clark, Amber Wall, and Travis & (Whitney) Wall; 22 great-grandchildren, Ian Buis, Kenton Buis, Blake Buis, Vander Catron, Zachary & (Maddie) Todd, Kaylee Todd, Skyler Lee, Raegan Lee, Spencer & (Lauren) Clark, Allicen White, Chloe White, Olivia Hale, Tessa Hale, Austin Wall, Alex & (Madison) Wall, Ayden Wall, Madison Wall, Corben Wall, Emersyn Wall, Noah Wall, Wyatt Harris, and A.J. Harris; 3 great-great grandchildren, Liam Dewane, Lucas Dewane, and Beckett Wall; one sister, JoAnn Rader of Somerset, KY; one brother, Roger & (Carol) Calder of Somerset, KY; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Calder and Margaret Ann Calder; a special caregiver, Shirley Pike; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis & Hattie Calder; her husband, Russell Wall; one sister, Irene Powers; two brothers, Charles "Bee" Calder and Donald Calder; one brother-in-law, Earl Rader; and one son-in-law, Steve Clark.
Chestine had several hobbies that she thoroughly enjoyed, including gardening, sewing, babysitting, and cooking, with her specialty being green beans and chocolate pie. She was a member of Eubank Church of Christ. She worked hard on the farm alongside her husband. She was a long-time member of Casey County Homemaker's Association and received the Kentucky Master Farm Homemaker's Award in 1972. She was a breast cancer survivor of 61 years and shared encouragement and inspiration to others. She loved traveling with her family, Jan & Gert McAninch and Dave & Jenny Snell.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Robins, Bro. Ferlin Price, and Bro. Barry Lee officiating.
Burial will follow at Eubank Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the great-granddaughters and the great-great grandsons.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 14, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
