We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Cheyenne Nicole Fleece, age 22, of Quitman. Cheyenne left this world on October 23, 2024. Cheyenne was a beloved daughter and friend, who will be missed by everyone who got to know her.
Cheyenne was born in Quitman on July 13, 2002 to Michelle Hestand and Donald Fleece. She grew up in Quitman and graduated from Quitman High School in 2020, where her enthusiasm for agriculture and engineering classes flourished. Her teacher, Mr. Cross, became a cherished mentor and like family to her during those formative years.
After high school, Cheyenne briefly attended Tyler Junior College, focusing on general education courses as she explored her interests and aspirations. She found joy in cooking for her friends, nurturing her house plants, and caring for exotic pets.
Cheyenne is preceded in death by her maternal great-grandmother, Margie Hasten, and maternal great-grandfather, Marvin Hestand.
She will forever be missed by her mother, Michelle Hestand; father, Donald Fleece; maternal grandmother, Sharon Hasten; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and pets.
Cheyenne preferred intimate gatherings over large crowds. There will be two visitations to honor her memory. Visitation for family and family friends will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations. Visitation for close friends will follow, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you do something special for a friend, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of a plant, or donate to an exotic animal rescue of your choice, reflecting Cheyenne’s love for all living creatures.
