Chip Waterer Obituary

Willie Frank "Chip" Waterer Jr. passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Starkville, MS on October 30, 1957, the son of Willie Frank Waterer Sr. and Sue Odom Waterer. After graduation from high school Chip went to Mississippi State University where he earned a Masters Degree in Entomology. Childhood sweethearts from the age of 12, Chip and the love of his life, Debbie Miller, eloped at the tender age of 17 and they have enjoyed 49 years together. Chip was a visionary entrepreneur with many talents and abilities. He began his career in 1983 as a salesman with a chemical company, selling to farmers all over the area. In 1989, Chip and Debbie opened Huntington Fabrics which they operated for 20 years. It was recognized as one of the "Fastest 40" private businesses in the state. He was also a seasoned cattle farmer and commercial real estate developer and investor. A true outdoorsman, Chip loved animals and enjoyed preparing food plots for local wildlife. He also loved deer, turkey, and duck hunting and training his duck dogs. His favorite dog, Kansas, was a constant companion. Chip's family affirms his dynamic faith and love for the Lord which he instilled in each of them. He was a dedicated member of The Orchard where he served as an elder and cherished his time with his beloved small group. His dedication to his faith, family, and church was evident by how he lived each day. Chip leaves a legacy of integrity and strength.

Left behind to cherish Chip's memory include his wife of 49 years, Debbie Miller Waterer of both Tupelo and Houlka; his son, Rusty Waterer and wife, Candace of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Mont, Knox, Laurie, and Noel; his mother, Sue Waterer of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey; a sister, Susie Waterer and a brother, J.J. Waterer, both of Red Bank, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Frank Waterer Sr. and his brother, Scott Waterer.
