Chloe Celeste Kielmeyer Held Moran peacefully left this world on November 29, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on May 15, 1930, in Faribault, Minnesota, she was the cherished daughter of the late Orlando and Esther Kielmeyer. From modest beginnings, Chloe's remarkable creativity, determination, and resilience shaped a life defined by achievement, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.
In the early 1940s, the Kielmeyer family moved to Robbinsdale, Minnesota, where her father worked as a machinist supporting the war effort. Chloe thrived in her new community, excelling socially and academically. She earned the admiration of her peers and was crowned Homecoming Queen of Robbinsdale High School in 1947. She fondly remembered teaching baton twirling in seventh grade as one of her favorite early jobs. During high school, she also served as drum majorette for the Robbinsdale High School Band, proudly leading the band in countless school and community events.
After graduation, Chloe entered the workforce full time but continued to pursue her love of performance as the drum majorette for the St. Paul Drum & Bugle Corps. With the Corps, she won the Drum and Bugle section of the Minneapolis Aquatennial Parade and marched in the St. Paul Winter Carnival, both experiences she cherished throughout her life.
Chloe met the love of her life, Paul Robert ("Bob") Held, through her mother, who worked for him at his meat business in downtown Minneapolis. Chloe and Bob married in 1950, beginning a joyous chapter of partnership and love. Together they raised four beloved children: Jennifer, Rebecca, Bobby, and Charlie. Chloe was a devoted wife, a gifted and loving mother, and the heart and anchor of her family.
A woman of wide-ranging talents, Chloe embraced every interest with creativity and determination. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, boating, flying as a pilot, and was an avid reader and writer. Her natural eye for design and her entrepreneurial spirit inspired her to build, renovate, and landscape numerous homes and properties, all of which flourished under her vision and business acumen.
Chloe faced profound tragedy with the loss of her husband Bob and their sons Bobby and Charlie in 1980. Through unimaginable grief, she rose with extraordinary strength, becoming the steadfast matriarch of a large and loving extended family. Her generosity, resilience, and deep involvement in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren remained constant throughout her years.
Chloe is survived by her daughters Jennifer (John) Warford and Rebecca Held; ten grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her sons, Bobby and Charlie; her second husband, Larry; and her dear friend Dennis.
A Catholic funeral and burial was held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wayzata on December 5, 2025.
