Chou Chou Merrill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 29, 2014.
Chou Chou (Raum) Merrill died unexpectedly on November 29, 2014 at the age of 62. Her loss is deeply mourned by her husband of 41 years, Michael W. Merrill of Brookline, her sons Matthew of Reston, VA and Cameron of Boston, her brother Warren and sister-in-law Dalia Raum of NYC, her step-father Donald Snow of Westport, CT and her sister-in-law Margot Merrill of Winthrop. Her parents Alix Snow and Jason Raum and her in-laws Bette Davis and Gary Merrill pre-deceased her. Chou Chou's friends were legion; in Brookline where they lived for 41 years; Westport, Ct which she never ceased to love; Captiva, Florida and Prout's Neck, Maine. A realtor for many years, Chou Chou was passionate about her love first for her "boys" and secondly for Brookline. She was an elected Town Meeting Member in Brookline for many years and was the spark plug for many civic projects including the Flag Day Parade and was well known for election day campaigning through the worst weather. She was a past co-president of the League of Women Voters. Chou Chou never met a stranger and her loyalty to her "boys" and her friends was an inspiration. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her. Visiting hours will be held at Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home, 376 Washington Street, Brookline, MA on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM at Pine Manor College, Founder's Room, 400 Heath Street, Chestnut Hill, MA. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Chou Chou's name to a college scholarship fund to be created at Staples High School, Westport, CT. Donations should be mailed to the Chou Chou Merrill Scholarship c/o Merrill & McGeary, 100 State Street, Suite 200, Boston, MA 02109.
