Chris Hawn, a beloved resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on October 4, 1960, Chris was a lifelong member of the Indianapolis community. He will be remembered not only for his warm spirit and generous heart but also for the vibrant energy he brought to everyone around him.
Chris was known for his selflessness and innate kindness, often described as someone who would take the shirt off his back to help a stranger. His sense of humor was infectious; he was a natural born comedian who could light up a room with laughter and joy. Friends and family alike will cherish the countless memories of shared smiles and heartwarming moments.
A proud member of the United States Navy, Chris served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class from 1981 to 1987. His time in service instilled in him a profound sense of resourcefulness and problem-solving skills, traits that he carried into all aspects of his life. Chris had a remarkable ability to fix anything, earning him the admiration of many who relied on his practical wisdom.
In addition to his service to the nation, Chris enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He had a passion for woodworking, building, and remodeling which allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship. Bowling was another favorite pastime, and he could often be found at the lanes enjoying time with friends. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his grandbabies, whom he was immensely proud of, finding delight in every moment shared with them.
Chris was a loving father to his children: Roy Hawn and Rachel Rogers. He was also blessed with a cherished son-in-law, Brent Rogers, and two adoring grandchildren, Cole Rogers and Emberly Rogers. His mother, Mildred Koss, and siblings Gerry Hawn, Mitchell Hawn, Cheryl Boekankamp, and Lisa Mennel, along with other family members Rose Lynk and Rick Binford, survive him, each of whom will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Hawn, who, along with Chris's selfless spirit, created a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
Chris Hawn's life was a celebration of family, friendship, and community. As we remember him, we recount the laughter, the love, and the lessons that he imparted to those around him. His memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to share in his life.
